ECS-Series
Systems
The ECS-Series
Effluent Treatment Systems are modular systems designed to provide
settling, filtering and automatic pH correction of effluent
from the surface finishing process.
ECS-Series effluent
systems are skid mounted for full portability. This
style of effluent control unit is designed to allow discharge
of treated waste from the finishing process direct to local
authority controlled sewerage systems.

Principle
of Operation:
Effluent from the surface finishing process is discharged into
a pre-filter collection tank from where it is pumped to the
neutralising tank which is fitted with a stirrer and pH sensor.
A pH controller mounted on the control panel automatically controls
dosing of liquid acid or alkaline solution into the neutralising
tank via two chemical dosing pumps to maintain the pH within
a preset range. A further chemical dosing pump is fitted
to inject a polyelectrolyte flocculant solution and is initiated
by a flow switch in the transfer pump pipe line.
The pH
corrected effluent then flows to a settling tank via a series
of baffles. Here, solids are allowed to settle and can
be removed periodically by the manual operation of a valve
fitted in the base of the tank. Treated effluent then
ebbs to either drain or further treatment operations such
as paperband or centrifuge filtration.
